Netflix has made its way to India by creating original content for the Indian audience. It first launched their original film, “Love Per Square Fit” which released on Valentine’s Day. The site now has decided to launch other original shows which will debut exclusively on Netflix and will be available in 190 countries.

A diverse range of topics will be covered in the new originals series. Some of the series are adaptations of literary works and some are conceptualised by great writers and directors.

  • Sacred Games

The first Indian Original series to launch was Sacred Games starring Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and produced by Anurag Kashyap’s Phantom Films. The series is based on Vikram Chandra’s bestselling novel with the same name. The show focuses on the life of Mumbai’s police officer Sartaj Singh, played by Khan. An unidentified tip gives him a chance to bag crime lord Ganesh Gaitonde. However, as the prey-predator game unfolds the team realizes that the game is larger than they have expected.

  • Selection Day

Selection Day is a cricket focused series. The show is based in Mumbai and is adapted from the book by Aravind Adiga with the same name. the story revolves around the life of a 14-year-old boy who is trying for the under 19 cricket league and encounters with his brother’s rivals. A complicated tale of cricket and corruption together shows how the child is pressurized to perform well on the pitch. It is produced by UK’s Seven Stories, production house run by filmmakers Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’ Baby) and Anand Tucker (Leap Year). Binge watch the series on Netflix.

  • Ghoul

Ghoul is a show on Arabic Folklore. A horror story set in an underground detention centre which follows the story of a girl named, Nida. Nida is a novice interrogator who turned in her own father as an anti-government activist. Things start to get gloomy when she realizes there are many terrorists but something more stored in the detention centre. Some criminals are maybe from another world. The adventurous story begins as Nida fights the supernatural to survive in the game. The show has stars Radhika Apte and Manav Kaul and is written and directed by Patrick Graham.
